About the flag of Equatorial Guinea
What it means: The arms show a silk-cotton tree and six stars for the five islands and the mainland. According to Whitney Smith, blue means the ocean, green vegetation, white peace and red the independence struggle.
Did you know? Local legend says the first treaty between local and Spanish leaders was signed under a silk-cotton tree, the same tree shown on the flag.
